Paula Swenson

Paula Swenson is a Senior Consultant  with Managing Results, LLC and has 16 years’ experience in city and county government. She served as a Gunnison County, Colorado Commissioner from January 2005 through December 2016. In that capacity, she was a principal champion of the county’s well-known Managing for Results efforts.  Through the strategic and results oriented planning with MFR, she led her community to successful achievements ranging from new facility construction projects (without raising taxes) to performance based budget management that continues to receive achievement awards.  Her leadership led the local tourism association, the rural transportation authority and the regional housing authority also to a managing for results model, bringing successes to each of these entities.  She is well known for her can do attitude and abilities to bring diverse opinions together.  She understands that the Managing for Results model ensures well thought out decision making processes elected officials can utilize to achieve success for their community while limiting the push and pull of conflicting interests.

Paula moved to the Gunnison Valley to attend Western State Colorado University in 1981 and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Accounting. Paula chose to stay and became an entrepreneur in the Gunnison Valley, owning and operating various businesses since 1986.  She and her husband are internet providers in the Gunnison Valley and have the oldest independent internet service on the Western Slope of Colorado. She manages their commercial property on Main St. and can be found selling flowers to all the gardeners every spring.  She also does consulting for both the private and public sectors on organizational structure and operations management.

Additionally, Paula’s civic engagements range from organizing the annual benefit golf tournament for the chamber of commerce to teaching preschoolers how to plant pansies.
