Maureen Stapleton
Ms. Stapleton worked with MR as a Senior Consultant for Managing for Results in 2004 and 2005. Now in 2017, following several years of working full time for Wayne County, MI, she is now back with MR.
From 2003 to Early 2009, Ms. Stapleton worked in various capacities for Wayne County and most recently served the Director of Organizational Effectiveness, a division created under her leadership. The division received national recognition in 2009 from the National Association of Counties and was responsible for training and development programs, process improvement, strategic planning initiatives and organizational reviews to ensure efficiencies in government operations.
Ms. Stapleton joined the City of Indianapolis’ Department of Metropolitan Development in 2000 as an Executive Assistant and within 6th months was promoted to Administrator of the Division of Compliance. There she managed a 100-person staff, a $9 million budget and helped with the agency’s training, recruitment and led a reorganization of the Compliance Division.
After brief work as a bank manager and 6 years of service with the Detroit Public Schools as a teacher and summer youth employment supervisor, Ms. Stapleton was tapped in 1994 by the Archer Administration to serve with the City of Detroit’s Youth Department. She spent six years in management and leadership roles with the Youth Department and the Detroit Recreation Department. While with the City of Detroit, Ms. Stapleton’s work included, human resource training, program and project management and helping administer the Recreation Department’s $16 million recreation division budget.
Ms. Stapleton has a Bachelor’s Degree from Howard University, completed graduate work in Public Administration at Wayne State University and has a Masters in Organizational Development from Bowling Green State University.
Her civic engagements include serving on the Board of Directors of the Karmanos Cancer Institute and being an active member of the Great Lakes Chapter of the Links, Incorporated. Maureen is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and Plymouth United Church of Christ.
In November 2010, Maureen was elected to the House of Representatives in the State of Michigan as State Representative, 4th District, Detroit.
